WATERWAYS WORLD SITE OF THE MONTH JANUARY 2002 Scarisbrick Marina Plans for a new marina at Scarisbrick Bridge were submitted on 12th December 2006, almost a year to the date on 18th December 2007, the WLDC gave permission for the marina to be built. Permission was granted with twenty three conditions which must be met; most of these refer to the building of the marina, not the operating side. I will be up-dating this page with photos of the development as work proceeds. The marina will be the first on the Leeds and Liverpool for some time, and is a welcome development by most people, the marina will have a chandlery, toilets and cafe, which will be enjoyed by many local people as well as passing boaters. The marina is being built for Mr. Alan Mawdsley, who owns the successfull 'Fettlers Wharf Marina', on the Rufford Branch, and if the cafe at the new marina is as good as Fettler's Wharf then it will be well worth a visit. Trees and bushes are being cut down canalside. Contractors cabins and vehicles line the track that will be the vehicular entrance. Southport is in the distance.
