Born 7 June 1761 at Phantassie, East Lothian

Died October 4th 1821, Buried in St. Paul's Cathedral

John Rennie Snr worked on the following canals and projects

The Lancaster Canal (started 1792)
The Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation (1793)
The Crinan Canal (1794)
The Kennet and Avon Canal (1794)
A drainage scheme for draining the Norfolk Fens (1802-1810)
Waterloo Bridge in London (1811-1817)
Southwark Bridge (1815-1819)
Docks at Hull, Liverpool, Greenock and Leith
London Bridge, still under construction when he died in 1821 but completed by his son, also John Rennie.
