Boat Brokers & Sales
If you have decided to buy a narrowboat, the ideal thing is to visit as many boat brokers as possible, narrowboat brokers are usually based at marinas or at a canalside hard standing, here you can view and compare several boats in one place. Most brokers have a web-site which we list here, so you can see what boats are available before you travel, they can also give you advice on insurance, moorings, license etc. A lot of the marina based brokers will have access to a dry dock or other repair facilities also.
Their are also on-line brokers, where the seller pays to have the details of the boat for sale with photos, advertised on a specialist web-site, the boat usually staying at it's home mooring till sold. This is usually a cheaper way of selling a boat, but to the buyer it could mean a lot of travelling till the dream boat is found.
You can also find boats advertised for sale privately in the canal magazines.
