Welcome to the U.K. Canals Network

The 'UKCanals Network' website started out in 2000 and was born from my fascination with canals, waterways and narrowboats, the aim of the site then, and now is to bring visitors complete listings of all canal and river side services in the United Kingdom, also information for newcomers to the canals, boaters and other waterway users, the history and heritage of the canals, plus links, tips and beginners guides on everything canals.
Since the site started it has been awarded 'Waterways World Site of The Month' in January 2002, and been featured in the 'Learning Zone' and 'Eye in the Sky' on TV.
If you have an interest in the canals and waterways of the United Kingdom, or need some information then hopefully you will find what you are looking for here.
If you find any information in these pages which you think is wrong, out of date or mis-leading then please let me know, reports of broken links are welcome so that the information can be kept as up to date as possible.
If you wish to contact me over anything at all please use the contact form on the left, to deter spam no e-mail addresses are displayed on the web site.
If you have a web-site that has anything to do with canals, waterways, rivers and boats in the UK, and you wish to have a link to this page, contact me with the details; reciprocal links are always welcome.
To check for the latest on the website you can go to the Updates page, or subscribe to the blog at UKCanals Blog
Waterways of The UK is a complete history of each individual canal built in the UK.
'Festivals & Events' is a list of canal and river festivals & events, if you have or know of an event taking place on the waterways please let me know then it can be added to the list.
We now have an Interactive Map with over 150 associated pages, giving details of length, route, number of locks etc. plus a link to the history of the waterway.
Thanks for visiting the site, I hope you enjoy your stay here, if you wish to contact me for any reason please use the contact me form on the left.
The web-site is growing all the time with new features and listings so please call back when you get the chance. Ken.
